Sustaining a Sound Future:
A Campaign for The Wilmington Music School/
Delaware Music School

WMS/DMS Capital Campaign Chair,
Thomas L. Cover
|
Spring 2008 Capital Campaign Newsletter
Dear Friends:
The magic of music touches all of our lives, but it takes more than magic
to keep it alive and available for all. At WMS/DMS, we are proud of the
extraordinary track record of 80 years of music excellence for everyone –
and we are gratified that people like you have made it possible to build
that impressive history.
We have so much to be proud of: WMS/DMS is Delaware’s only nationally
accredited community music school, now serving an enrollment of
approximately 2,000 people each week, and is the primary local provider
of music education for students of all ages. WMS/DMS offers two branch
locations in Wilmington and Milford and serves over 20 outreach
locations, including public schools and daycares in economically
challenged areas. I know you recognize that WMS/DMS is an extraordinary
resource in our community. Now, we are looking to the future. It is my
special privilege to serve as Chair of the School’s Capital Campaign and
to help our Master Plan become a reality, so that WMS/DMS will continue to
meet needs that no other organization in our area fulfills.
Through our Sustaining a Sound Future Capital Campaign, we plan to
repair, revitalize and enhance our Wilmington Branch location to better support the
music needs of our community and bring our facilities into the 21st
century. We also seek to advance the endowment needs of the school so
that we can recruit, retain and reward the very best faculty while
controlling tuition; continue to offer our extensive Financial Aid
program so that our programs remain open to any interested person,
regardless of ability to pay; and refurbish our aging instrument
collection and update our equipment. The success of the Campaign will
ensure the continuation of the School’s leadership in music education as
the home of choral and orchestral programs and as the
primary local provider of early childhood music education.
We are asking for your help to bring this plan to full fruition. Please
join us in our efforts and together we will ensure a sound future for
The Wilmington Music School/Delaware Music School.
Sincerely,

Thomas L. Cover, Campaign Chair
